Here are a few highlights from my poetry collection. Please ponder and enjoy!

Rainfall and Birdsongs

As rainfall in the cool of night falls soft,
And windborne tunes blow gently to and fro
Across the cornfields; thus, from my loft
I stand, and wonder where my soul must go.
I hear the wistful sound the sparrows sing,
And how it leaves these tired eyes in want
For all of what my soul search could not bring,
And all of what my heart could never grant.
And in the summer twilight, here I gaze
From precipices of untethered dreams
And rainfall in the sepia-tinted haze
Of lampposts and their incandescent beams.
The birdsong of the morning I shall seek,
And I might have my answer in the week.

Daydreams that flicker softly

Life journeys on, the cackling sound of the wind flies softly

As the sunrise peaks the opalescent interest of the mind.

The sunset sparks the vivid philosophies of the imagination,

To which dream and desire play.

And the man who seeks out life must rest soon,

As daydreams turn to nightdreams.

Yet, he relaxes first upon these flickering will-o-wisps of time and space.

The Comfort of the Weary Soul

Come, souls afflicted and distressed,

Weighed down by griefs and life’s alarms;

Lay down your cares and find your rest

Hiding in our Emmanuel’s arms.

He is an all-sufficient God

To keep a bottle of your tears,

To carry all your heavy load;

And He your anxious worry hears.

Then should you have too great a grief

Forbidding you to rest at home?

Dispel your doubt and unbelief,

The Savior gently says to come.

I come, I come to you my Lord;

Why should my feeble soul delay?

I’ll trust your never-failing Word,

And for Your comfort watch and pray.
