Holy Spirit, Dwell Within Me

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and self-control.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

I had the special privilege of singing one of my own hymns at the 2021 Church of God in Virginia Indoor Camp-meeting. Here is the full hymn:

Holy Spirit, dwell within me,
Make me only as Your own;
Mold me, resurrect me, win me,
Soften now this heart of stone.
Change my thoughts and my ambition,
Covenantal blessings bring;
All my action and volition
To be used for Christ my King.

Draw me to the power of Jesus,
Sanctify from every sin.
Cast away the sin that seizes,
Put your love where fear has been.
Let me then, O Holy Spirit,
Bring this love to those I see;
Give me strength to boldly share it,
That the sinner would be free.

When my death day will be near me,
Spirit, still be in my view;
With Your presence there to cheer me,
That will all my fears subdue.
Then in realms of light and glory
I shall see my Father’s face,
And with gladness tell the story
Of redeeming, saving grace.
